Nashville Gives Chris A Chance

After months of waiting (because they only offer auditions every six months)I (Chris) auditioned for Improv Nashville on Sunday, October the 19th. Then, after two more days of waiting, they called today and asked if I would join the troupe. I'm totally excited, and hope that each of you reading this will come and see me perform soon. They have performances every Friday and Saturday night at 8 and 10. See you there.

"Touch The Sky" New Song...Lyrics

Here is a new song that I just finished. It has an upbeat Jason Mraz/Jack Johnson feel to it, and it would go perfectly as the theme song over the vidcast intro.

Well I‘m Pop Cracker Pop, and I ain’t plannin’ to stop
Until I’m six feet under and only then shall I not
Put one foot in front of the other
Cause it’s been too long, I’ve seen too many sunsets
With nothing under my belt, It’s making me upset
I’m just fighting through the clutter

Chorus
But here we go
Ooo Ooo Oh
I hear something good Oh
Ooo Ooo Oh
I’m smelling apple pie, baby come on
Ooo Ooo Oh
I see it all now clearly
Ooo Ooo Oh
I’ve tasted dirt, but I wanna touch the sky now

Well this is how I shall roll until the roll is called up yonder
Cause I got some mouths to feed and I took way too long to ponder
How I was gonna fight the struggle
But there’s no time like the present to begin again, again
Rearranging my priorities until the best ones finally win
It just takes some extra muscle

Chorus

Everyone knows they've got a life
That they must lead to do what they're born for
Not all of us know the wrong or right
Sometimes it takes a little more

Chorus

I get up, I get up with the sun again
And I get down just in time just to clock in
I think all day about what I’d rather do
I’d rather be home with you
I’d rather be home with you ooo oo oo oo ooo oo

When I’m not around I wish that you could see
Deep down inside I wish it was just you and me
I know that you and I have got our lives to do
But I’d rather be home with you
I’d rather be home with you

Bridge October 6, 2008 (7:47p)
You light me up like a gallon of gasoline
Every time we’re not together, babe, I want to scream
I think of you and I see my life laid out
Like the plot of a movie without when, where or how
We’ll add together all the pieces that don’t seem to go
Until the puzzle is completed and you and I go hooooooooooooooooome Oooooooooo

Frustrations with the biz

OK, for some reason a few days did the trick. Now I AM frustrated with the album taking so long. Jared and I finished recording back in February, and have been sitting patiently since then. Now we are looking at least at another month and a half before we even get to hear anything. That will be a total of 8 months since we originally "wrapped". We were looking at having the CD in hand by May at the latest, but that was four months ago and it is still not mixed or mastered.
Don't get me wrong ks is a genius, and he is doing us a tremendous favor, but it is very testing to sit and not hear what we have created for two-thirds of a year. Uuuuuuuuugh.......

Quickest Year

Man, this year has flown by. A year ago I was settling into my second full month in Nashville, and here I am looking at year two in Music City with an album in the books and one in the works.
The Farther and Faster album is sitting in a holding pattern while our producer (ks Rhoads) tours the globe on his own quest to make this musical dream a reality (I swear there is no bitterness, just impatience). He has really blown up this past Summer, and he deserves it. He is quite amazing. If you don't have his album Dead Language go buy it now. He is friggin' phenomenal!
As far as my solo stuff, I have about twenty songs that I hope to narrow to 5 for an EP to record around the first of the year. I am talking to a few producers right now, and I think I found someone who may match my vision for the project. The hardest part is finding a musical theme for the EP to find itself in since I have been experimenting (and enjoying) writing in various styles recently. It has not been too far out of the realm of experimentation for me to write a folk tune with a hip-hop beat, or a rock song to be played with a tuba, a snare drum and a guitar. So who knows what it will sound like. I'll be as excited as anyone to find out!

New Music Strategies

I am adding a new link to the page. It is for a website called New Music Strategies. It is a great website for those who are just starting out in the music biz, or who want to broaden their knowledge base when doing it DIY. It is written by a guy named Andrew Dubber, and he seems really level headed about all this stuff.
